Jacqueline & Evan

DECEMBER 28, 2020

Every once in a while you run into a couple that you just know were made for each other- and Jacqueline and Evan are definitely that couple. These two lovebirds asked us to capture some photos of them at the location of their first date in Downtown Mobile and Mobile Bay- and just as they told us happened on their first date, we were absolutely swarmed by mosquitos (why didn’t anyone tell the bugs that it’s a pandemic and they’re supposed to stay 6 ft away?). In between natures assault we were able to capture some precious memories that really showcased their easy going and goofy personalities. The scooters were this couple’s idea and I couldn’t believe how much fun they had with these- they definitely bring out the inner child in one another and after all my years of photographing couples, this is one of the things that always lets me know a couple is going to last.

Jacqueline and Evan are planning a large, traditional Catholic wedding in Birmingham so this intimate photoshoot stands at contrast to what their big day will look like, but the one thing I know wont change is the way that Evan looks at Jacqueline. You can tell she hung the moon for him and that he is totally committed to ensuring that she is his person for the rest of their years. At one point during their shoot they even made the iconic Titanic pose at the end of a dock which ended with lots of giggles from the couple as well as myself.

2020 was a hard year and I am so thankful for the opportunity to be in the presence of such authentic and true love. Photographing couples like this who are so obviously enthralled with one another gives me the opportunity to renew my faith in the universe and to realize that maybe things aren’t so bad. Our world simultaneously got much bigger and much smaller this year – we spend so much time thinking about the news and what’s going on with public health and everything else and this shoot gave me the opportunity to step back and realize that love like what Evan and Jacqueline have is what is really keeping our little rock turning through the universe. It allows us to realize that these small moments in time- riding a scooter through downtown or admiring your engagement ring against a sunset- are what life is actually made up of. I cannot wait to see what 2021 brings us!
